Hi there, It's mountain season again :) Which means, as I write these words I am filled with an ache and fatigue that echoes a song of one big climb after the next as I've been after one summit, followed by another and another until, that is, my legs have told me they are quite done, and in need of rest. A BIG rest! One that will take me into my next BIG event that is, once more, running 100 miles through the Sawatch mountains in central Colorado. Oh, what a journey! One that I am so excited to speak to in the latest Upward Slopes Podcast Episode that just dropped: So here's the thing about this episode: Yes, I get to talk about running 100 miles! In it, I speak to what happened after I crossed the finish line two years ago. It's a story of letting go of Ultra Running as I went into deep questioning of whether or not this wild sport is in alignment with what I best be doing in life. It's a process that I teach regularly: the ability to listen deeply within as we turn inward for the answers that can best guide us forward in alignment with what really serves. Spoiler alert... since I am, indeed, ready to show up on the starting line once more, the answer is a resounding YES! I am here for it!!! And I am excited to share story about it. More than this, I bring you this episode because what I really want to speak to is this: There is a problem that I see alive in our world. It is one that I have lived out, myself, such that it brought me immense pain and suffering and led me to live many years missing out on the true joy and wonder that is available for all of us in this world. This problem has everything to do with our hyper-masculine way of being in this world: one where we over-emphasize plan and process and structure and goal and achievement... ... while simultaneously under-emphasizing the feminine that brings us into states of presence through felt connection and embodied awareness. It's not about throwing out the masculine way of using our heads to set goals and think through how we best get there. Rather, it's about calling in a more powerful feminine way of being that allows us to move through life filled with more of what life actually has to offer! There's so much more I could say, which is why I recorded an entire podcast episode for you! Big love, Katie p.s. Want to follow my trail running stories day-to-day? I tell stories and teach practices focused on a fully embodied experience of this life. Whether I am out running on the trails, climbing mountains, teaching a yoga class, writing a book, or working with a client 1-on-1, I am here to support a greater connection (mind, body, Earth) as we become ever more capable of healing: our own selves, our communities, and our dear planet
Connection is the path of remembering,We are interwoven; as one. Hi friends, For years, I have been writing over on the We Are The Forest Substack as a path to embodiment: that is, to knowing ourselves as the whole, complex, interconnected beings that we are. By interweaving my spiritual and biological teachings, it is a space that allows each of us to explore within, as we simultaneously open to the ways we are connected beyond a limited view of self. I know this to be a path to healing,...
Hi all, Can you feel it? We are in a powerful time. Yes, of course, the world around us shaking and raging is one clear sign. At the same time, those quieter, far subtler signs from within: those that are guiding you to find your truth, and to find a deeper truth, amidst it all. And, to allow this truth to guide you forward as we each work to co-create a brighter, more beautiful Planet Earth:: for you, because you deserve it for all, because all of life deserves to shine its unique, beautiful...
Well friends, here I am again. Staring down the barrel of my third 100 mile mountain ultra running event! And boy am I filled with excitement!! This Friday I will, one again, place my feet on the starting line, begin taking steps, and not stop walking and running until I cross 100 miles! 100 miles. 6 mountain passes. 23,400 feet of climbing! This journey is a wild one, and it is difficult to tell you, plainly, why I continue to do it. Only that the journey is one I know to be extraordinarily...
