The Embodied Path | Practice #4 A Practice of Expanded Awareness

"A holistic spirituality is one that works within self, and with self in connection to the world beyond. It is not selfish, just as it is not selfless."

When I set out to create The Embodied Path, I realized what we need is a clear set of foundational practices for becoming grounded, centered, and aligned beings who are skillfully discerning our way through life.

In other words, I was asking myself, "What are the sort of spiritual 'bread and butter' practices that are essential for becoming the beings that we need to become: for self, and for the world beyond self?"

I did not want to preach a clear, precise path that promises to get you to a state that is high and mighty, but rather, one that grounds you more fully in the lived experience, here and now. One that does so, skillfully.

Because, let's be honest, there are endless ways to practice spirituality, and there are many diverse beliefs that are able to hold and guide each individual as we do our best to figure out what the hell is real, meaningful, and skillful here on Earth. And what we need has nothing to do with fully perfected spiritual frameworks or religions that guaranteed to be 100% on the mark; but instead, has far more to do with what allows the practitioner to ground into the lived experience, being as skillful as possible.

Here at ForestBody, it is my goal to offer the spiritual frameworks that align for me, while also teaching them in a way that will enable you to cultivate your own alignment.

We continue this work with Practice #4 of our 11 Embodiment Practices for your Healing and Awakening.

Know that this practice follows from an initial 3 practices that will certainly help set the foundation for Practice #4, but do not have to be understood nor completed beforehand. Remember, we are not working with a linear path here. We are working from the space of being open to the practices that can serve you in the moment (whilst also cultivating a set of practices that you devote yourself to, routinely).

Practice #4: A Practice of Expanded Awareness

Practice expanding your awareness beyond your own self and the routine people/happenings in your own life. Expand your consciousness outward, letting it fall upon the objects, the living beings, the sounds, and all else that is unfolding beyond self and your limited world. Rest your consciousness here. Allow the world around you to be brought into your field. Notice what is here. Do not pull it in, and do not let yourself get pulled out into it. Simply, expand your consciousness, let it rest in the spaces outside of self, and be present to what is unfolding, just as you did in your stillness practice.

Hi there, I am coming to you today with the most amazing news! My favorite person on this Earth has released his book, The Way of The Sphinx, and I was able to snag the first interview - one filled with talk of spirituality, what it looks like to bring our world back into alignment, and his new model of The Zodiac (one that at last brings greater alignment and coherence to what has traditionally been quite the messy model). Albert Mitchell is a practicing occultist and spiritual teacher with...

Focused. And expanded. Essentially, this is the way we need to walk through life. Focused: What matters most? Where does your attention and energy need to be going so that you are getting the most out of this life? Showing up for the people in your life Being impactful Sharing your light in the best way possible Expanded: What else is unfolding? In your life? In your community? In your environment? In the world? Both are essential qualities to be embodied as you walk through life. The...
